Streatham head to Chelmsford to take on the Chieftains this Sunday, hoping to notch up a twentieth consecutive win in all competitions.
The RedHawks beat Oxford City Stars last Sunday, with a 7-0 road win inspired by a hat trick from Danny Ingoldsby, added to by lone goals from Ziggy Beesley, Sam Waller, Ryan Watt and coach Michael Farn.
Farn gave his thoughts this week on the Oxford game and the trip to Essex.
“The couple of games we'd had with Oxford previously were hard fought and a bit fiesty and things followed suit at Oxpens Road on Sunday.
If I’m honest I thought we were fortunate to be up by four so early in Oxford. We were clinical with the chances we had, but we were a little sloppy, especially considering recent games where we’ve come out hard and really put ourselves on the front foot.
In the second period they came out much better, and looked the better team at times and we could only manage one goal as penalties began to creep in. In the third we bounced back and finished the job which was a credit to the boys.
We hit more penalty trouble, but I wouldn’t put it down too much to a lack of discipline. Some of the penalties were justified and some were more questionable but the most important thing was to come away with two points.
Chelmsford are so far the only team to defeat us so far and have proven to be a big test every time we've played. Each game is massive now for us as we edge towards the end of the regular season. We want to keep taking steps towards hopefully lifting another trophy, but there are a lot of fixtures to go still before that opportunity arises and we’ll take nothing for granted and take each game as it comes.”
Streatham’s next home game is on Saturday 19th February against Romford. Tickets are on sale now.
