Streatham made it twenty straight wins in all competitions thanks to a 5-3 win in Essex over a strong Chelmsford team.
The travelling support wondered how Michael Farn's men would react following the pre-game announcement that top scorer Vanya Antonov, forwards Brandon Miles and Ben Ealey-Newman and defenseman Andy Cook would not be icing due to a combination of illness and injury.
Farn has already labelled the hosts as the strongest team his side had faced so far this campaign, however a devastating display in the first period saw the South Londoners 4-0 up, silencing the sell-out crowd in the process. Ryan Watt, Scott Bailey, Milique Martelly and Ben Paynter scoring the goals.
In the second period, Cameron Bartlett pulled a goal back for Chelmsford, only to see Paynter add his second to make it 5-2. Bartlett bagged a brace himself before the buzzer in a period that the hosts came into stronger, outshooting Streatham in the process.
With a three goal cushion heading into the third period, the visitors began to look a little nervy as Bailey took a high sticking penalty, and James Ayling netted on the powerplay to pull the Chieftains back to within two goals of pulling level.
To the delight of the travelling support, the RedHawks held on to the 5-3 lead and skated away with the points.
Man of the match - Ben Paynter
