Streatham IHC are pleased to announce that Brendan Baird & Aidan Doughty will be joining The Redhawks for the 2024/25 Season.
This will be the pairs second stint on the High Road, the first being back in 2017/18 under Jeremy Cornish.
Both have spent the last 6 seasons split between the Bees and Basingstoke Bison in the National League and have decided the High Road will be the perfect destination for the 24/25 season. Both will be a huge hit on the High Road with their physical play and experience.
Coach Ben Paynter commented,
Bringing Bairdy and Doughts back to Streatham is something I have hoped would happen for a while. They both play a style that I like and I think they’ll fit in to our systems perfectly, Aidan is big and strong, finishes his hits and goes to the net, he has the ability to score a lot of goals by just being gritty in front of the net. Much like the signing of Harvey Stead, Bairdy has the ability to create offence from defence quickly, something we sometimes struggle with. He has a great first pass and good vision, I can see him getting a lot of assists this coming season as well as being horrible to play against in our own end.
Baird commented on his return to the High Road,
“Really excited to be back at the high road, I enjoyed my time there last time round and I feel like it’s a great time for me to return. I’m looking forward to be playing with players that I’ve known for years and some good friends. The team has had a lot of success over the last few years and I hope I can help add to that success and win some silverware!”
Doughty also said,
“It feels great to be back at Streatham, speaking with Paynts and his plans for the upcoming season it was a no brainer to play at the high road and I cannot be any more exited. I’m looking forward to help where I can and add some experience in the line up. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and I will see you all in September.”
We are also pleased to announce that we have created an official pathway with the Berkshire Bees of the NIHL National. This pathway will enable our young prospects a chance to sign 2 way agreements between the two teams. It will give our prospects a great opportunity to train at a higher standard, obtain more ice time and also earn valuable game time when the time is right and our schedule allows. We already have a couple of players under the agreement and these details will be announced by the Berkshire Bees in due course. This is a relationship that we hope can benefit all parties with both clubs committed to the development of our young prospects.
Coach Ben Paynter commented,
“Having this relationship with the Berkshire Bees will benefit all parties hugely, it gives our young talented prospects the chance to train more frequently and also at a higher level, this will only help their development, something I’m sure will translate well for us on a game day. Thanks to Doug Sheppard and the Bees for giving the guys this opportunity.”
