Experienced blueliner Waller heads to High Road
Streatham IHC are delighted to announce the signing of former GB junior international Sam Waller who wants a second season of the SIHC game-day noise!
The highly experienced and talented defenceman slotted in nicely to the blueline last season after a long career in the game, that saw him win the EPL Play-Offs twice.
Sam returns from a self imposed break from the game and last iced with Guildford Flames in the 2016/17 season. Born in Swindon, he grew up playing for his home town club and represented GB up to under 20 level.
"I'm really happy to be back playing for the redhawks next season. After spending some time away from the game it was such a good feeling to be back playing and also winning. We nearly got the sweep so we got it all to play for next season.
Lets go RedHawks!"
Sam Waller is the first of our blue line this year, with others to be announced... so ya'll keep checking back now! Coach Ben said,
"Waller is someone who was a bit of an unknown at the beginning of last season after not playing for 5 seasons but he quickly showed his class and experience. After not playing for 5 years and playing such a solid, aggressive game while adding a great first past to start our offence it is evident waller would be a top defenceman in this league. Now he has had a season under his belt I’m relying on waller to really lead our defence this season playing plenty of minutes in big situations.
Not only did he find his feet on the ice immediately he fitted straight in with the guys in the dressing room earning players player at the end of season awards, which shows the type of team mate he is, which is exactly the type of guys we want in our group."

Sam Waller's game worn #37 home, away and warm up jerseys are all available through our popular own and loan scheme. You can get your name or message on the back of his jersey(s) throughout the season and then you get to keep it once the season is done. We will wash out any game stains before you get hold of it (unless you prefer otherwise) so it really is a great offer.
To keep it fair, we ask that you email our management stating which of Sam's jerseys you are interested in (home/away/warm up) and if we have multiple bids then we will draw names out of a hat. Jerseys are £100 and you can register interest by emailing: streatham1972@yahoo.co.uk
