Streatham IHC are excited to announce the return of Preston Tombs to the Redhawks for the 2023/24 season.
Preston joined the club back in 2020 where he played for the Under 15 & 18 teams in Streatham, his hard work lead to being on the radar of the Blackhawks and Redhawks leading to a 2 way contract with both last term. Preston will join the Redhawks on a more permanent basis but remain on a 2way enabling him to utilise as much ice time a possible to enable his development.
Coach Paynter commented,
‘Preston done a great job with us last term pushing for more and more ice time as the year went on, he is a great lad and wants to improve every time he is on the ice. He is solid defensively, composed when he needs to be and is strong and physical. I have no doubt he will be pushing me for a regular shift come September and I can’t wait to see how he develops more into senior hockey.’
Paynter continued,
‘Our goal going into the season is to win all trophies that are up for grabs, but I’m a firm believer that we should be giving opportunities to the juniors coming through our junior system. We have a wealth of experience in our roster and I hope that having that experience to learn from coupled with the right opportunities to play, we can develop juniors to be key parts of our core going forward.’
Preston commented,
‘It was great to have the opportunity to be part of what was another successful season for The Redhawks. I'm excited to have been asked back and look forward to being part of the team for another year, where I hope to continue pushing my game forward whilst learning from the invaluable experience this group of players has to offer.
Thank you to Paynts, the players, management and spectators for making me feel so welcome.’
