After a 5-3 road win in Chelmsford last weekend, Player Coach Michael Farn shares his thoughts and looks forward to Saturday's London Cup tie against Romford.
I thought it took a little bit of time for us to get going on Sunday, with it being a one game weekend, but Chelmsford were in the same boat to be fair. I've mentioned it before that we want to start games on the front foot, but we had a few bodies short and I was pleased to get a decent lead in the first period. I thought we deserved it for our play.
As I expected, we then tried to protect the lead a bit, and Chelmsford certainly took the game to us as it went on. We took a few questionable penalties and got punished on the powerplay, but I thought we saw the game out well in the end.
I think we don't often get too much credit as some people think we get gifted games at times. So I was pleased that with a short bench the lads still managed to show character and we had the depth to dig out the win in a tough venue away from home.
It's an important win that edges us closer to the league championship and we're all looking forward to this weekend and lifting the London Cup in front of our own fans.
