Streatham IHC are delighted to announce that Michael Farn will be retuning to the club to provide some injury cover over the coming weeks. .
Farn who many would acknowledge as a club legend joined the Redhawks back in 2017 under Jeremy Cornish and was with the Redhawks until he retired from the game at the end of the 21/22 season, one which he was Head Coach leading the club to a League title, League Cup, London Cup and Play Off Title. In his time Farn showed skill and class and we cannot wait to see him back on the blue line.
As our supporters will know we have been hit hard with injuries in the last few weeks with 50% of our d-men being unavailable so the addition of Farn will help relieve some pressure from our defensive core who have really put in a shift over the last couple of weeks.
Head Coach Ben Paynter commented,
‘Being able to bring Farny in is a massive help for us. The boys have been battling with a short bench for a little while now and I worry it will start to take its toll leading to more injuries. He will be available when his schedule allows but it’s great to have him back with the group. He has been registered for a little while now and I’m pleased we managed to get that sorted prior to the signing deadline for these ‘just in case moments’.
He has skated for a couple weeks in practice and looks great. He is an out and out professional and is always looking to play at his best. He will be an asset to the team when available and I can’t wait to get back on the ice with him.’
Farny commented,
‘Since ‘retiring’ Ive always kept an eye out for the Streatham results and regularly speak to Paynts so I knew that they had been playing short due to injuries and suspensions. I’ve been on the ice a few times with the lads and it’s clear to see why they have just retained the league title again, I hope I can add some depth and experience when I’m in the lineup.’
Michael Farn will return to the ice this weekend at home against the Slough Jets, face off at 6.45pm.
