Joining the bench once more as assistant coach will be long serving assistant coach, Terry England.
Terry has been in and around Streatham Hockey for decades and has agreed to come back as assistant coach for the 2022/23 season.
Terry has been an ever present behind the Streatham bench since the 2013/14 season, supporting many coaches in his time, from Warren Rost to the changes under Cornish and then through the success with Adam Carr and Michael Farn and this will be no different this coming season. Prior to that Terry has coached throughout the junior programme at Streatham.
New Head Coach, Ben Paynter, had the following comments on Terry returning,
"Terry has been involved in this club a very long time. He has devoted years to the club, from coaching juniors to seniors and in my eyes you don’t devote so much time and effort to a club with out having a true love for it. Therefore I believe he is the best person to have as an assistant coach in my first year of coaching. He brings tons of experience and I know I will have a honest opinion, that will be in the best interest of the team. It’s a pleasure to have the support of Terry back with us for the coming season."
Terry commented,
"I'm pleased that Ben has asked me back for the upcoming season. I'm excited for Ben taking over as head coach. He's hard working and is fully deserving of he's new roll.
We both share the same ethics, with a balance of experience and youth, so it's good to see the younger generations who are hungry for it coming though now.
Since My good friend Barry Spoures took the club over way back when, I have worked closely with many head coaches.
Ben will be My 7th head coach that I have worked under, each bringing something to the table. When Jeremy Cornish took over at streatham, he Brought a plan that paved the way for success, sadly all be it coming close ,he retired before he got the success he deserved.
Anyway we have a great squad for the coming season. We still have a score to settle for the one that got away at Coventry, we have a great team, great owners, amazing staff and volunteers and a passion to win .
Bring on the 2022/23 season."
