Streatham put their Riverside demons to bed with a well deserved 6-3 victory over Chelmsford Chieftains in Essex.
The Londoners have rarely emerged from Chelmsford with a win over recent years, however they were never behind in this encounter.
Vanya Antonov and Danny Ingoldsby gave Streatham a 2-0 lead in the first period, however the hosts hit back through James Ayling just 15 seconds into the second period.
That early goal would be enough to unsettle most sides but Streatham hit back within a minute as Antonov bagged his second to silence the home crowd. Player Coach Adam Carr extended the lead to 4-1 with a crucial goal four minutes later, before Ross Brears reduced the deficit again with a goal shortly afterwards.
A minute later Chieftains Julian Smith and Streatham's Brandon Miles dropped the gloves with the latter getting the takedown and skating off in high spirits.
A bench minor gave the Chieftains a powerplay that saw Ayling get his second of the night to get raise the roof and pull it back to 3-4. Unfortunately for the home crowd, Streatham replied immediately yet again as a Carr breakaway saw him link up again with Antonov, before Adam Wood slotted past Sonny Phillips for 5-3.
The third period was to be a hard fought affair, but it was Antonov who sealed a memorable evening for the ecstatic travelling support as he bagged his hat trick and finished the game at 6-3.
Streatham now face Milton Keynes Thunder this Sunday at 6.45pm in the final home game of 2019. Tickets are on sale now.
