Streatham lifted the NIHL South Cup with another dominant display on home ice beating Invicta 6-2 on the night and 13-5 on aggregate.
The occasion brought a full house to Streatham Arena and there were emotional scenes in the stands at the end of the game, as Coach Adam Carr and his team ended a 38 year wait for a trophy.
Ziggy Beesley opened the scoring and the hosts never looked back as Michael Farn, Adam Wood, Adam Carr, Ben Paynter and Danny Ingoldsby went on to light the lamp. It was a night to forget for the Dynamos whose import Tomas Banovsky picked up an injury and didn’t ice for much of the game. Juraj Huska and Anthony Leone got the consolation efforts for the Dynamos.
“You could see by the reaction from the fans and the owners how much it meant to them at the end of the game” admitted Streatham Captain Michael Farn, who is no stranger to winning trophies with his former club MK Lightning.
“The locker room is buzzing right now and we want to use this to spur us on to winning more silverware this season.
“The atmosphere was incredible as it has been at a number of games so far this year, but it was particularly special when that buzzer went.”
Streatham now return to league action and will host Solent Devils in a crunch game at the top of the league this coming Sunday.
The Crowd were magnificent, the noise thunderous and the Streatham players pushed on for the win...
Then the Buzzer sounded and it all got a little crazy and quite a bit emotional with plenty of celebrations... We. Are. Streatham.
