Milique Martelly signs a 2-way from the blue line

Streatham IHC are very pleased to announce a 2-way signing of fan favourite, Milique Martelly. Milique will be returning to the high road with a 2 ways signing with MIlton Keynes Lightning.

Defenseman Milique has progressed through the junior ranks of the club and was selected by GB u16s for the Riga Cup back in 2019. He has also been invited to the GB U18 selection camp in Sheffield.

Milique captained Streatham u18s in 2019/20 and notched an impressive 17 goals and 17 assists across the campaign getting the attention of last seasons player coach, Michael Farn. Milique quickly impressed, earning himself a permanent spot in the Redhawks 2021/22 line up, returning 30 points in 31 games. His impressive first senior season caught the attention of MK in the National league mid way through the season where he went on to sign a 2 way, icing in 16 games for the Lightning.

Milique is excited to be back with the Redhawks, commenting;

“It feels great to be back with Streatham for a second season after an amazing first season, it was difficult not to to return. After the disappointing end to the season I feel like the team still has unfinished business and I can’t wait to get back to where we ended and can’t wait to be apart of Paynts’ new plans.”

Martelly adds to the returning defensive corps of Sam Waller, James Warman, Jordan Gregory, Jack Hoppes and our newest D-man import Tomasz Skokan. Player Coach Ben Paynter is ready and excited to see him progress on this new journey, commenting;

"It’s great to be able to secure Milique for the coming season. I know he had a lot of offers this summer and the fact he opted to sign a 2 way with MK and ourselves speaks volumes of the set up we have here. Milique will share his time, gaining valuable time with Milton Keynes and icing for the Redhawks when appropriate.

He is a young D man that wants to be the best player he can be at all times. His attitude is second to non, always wanting to learn and better himself. His speed makes him a huge offensive threat and enables us to turn defence to offence at any opportunity.

In his first senior season, at such a young age, he made a huge impact on our team last season and I’m thrilled he has been given another opportunity to show what he can do in the National League. He is surrounded by tons of experience in Milton Keynes and I am sure he will only get better and better."

Own and loan Milique's jerseys

Milique Martelly's #33 game worn home, away and warm up jerseys are all available through our popular own and loan scheme. You can get your name or message on the back of his jersey(s) throughout the season and then you get to keep it once the season is done. We will wash out any game stains before you get hold of it (unless you prefer otherwise) so it really is a great offer.

To keep it fair, we ask that you email our management stating which of Milique's jerseys you are interested in (home/away/warm up) and if we have multiple bids then we will draw names out of a hat. Jerseys are £100 and you can register interest by emailing:  streatham1972@yahoo.co.uk
