Streatham cemented their place at the top of the league with a convincing win over second placed Slough Jets.
The High Road was buzzing for the first home game of 2022 and the crowd were on their feet in the first two minutes thanks to a goal from James Warman.
Three more goals would be added before the first period break, with Ryan Watt, Ben Ealey-Newman and Josh Ealey-Newman all slotting past Jets’ goalie Brett Shepherd to the delight of the home crowd.
Harry Harcup pulled a goal back for the Jets on the powerplay at the start of the second period and grabbed a second goal later, but despite these blips the RedHawks continued to soar with goal after goal across the twenty minute period.
Fresh from his GB under 18 call up, youngster Milique Martelly sniped again on home ice and both Ben Paynter and Ben Ealey-Newman (again) made it game over at 7-2 going into the final twenty minutes.
The crowd wondered if Streatham would push on for double figures and Michael Farn’s men answered the question resoundingly led by the coach. Farn made it 8-2 early on from the restart and goals from Vanya Antonov, Ziggy Beesley and Danny Ingoldsby ensured a final 11-2 scoreline.
All in all a dominant win and ideal preparation for the two legged Cup final against Invicta Dynamos this coming weekend.
Man of the match went to James Warman who made a monster hit in the third to take out a Slough player in neutral ice.
