Streatham skated out at the High Road for the first home league game in over 18 months and overcame a resolute Romford side, who pushed the RedHawks all the way over 60 minutes.
The visitors only brought white jerseys so Streatham were forced into wearing the new NHS themed warm up jerseys during the game to avoid a colour clash. It is probably the first time a Streatham senior team has worn blue jerseys at home since we were formed in the 1930's.
A brace from Vanya Antonov and goals from Brandon Miles, Ben Paynter and Ben Ealey-Newman sealed the points in a 5-2 victory for the hosts, with TJay Anderson and James Hounsome netting for the visitors.
It was a fiesty game throughout, with Streatham's Ryan Watt ejected for a check to the head after only three minutes. It took almost the whole game for more ejections, as Josh Ealey-Newman and Hounsome were ejected for fighting with 57 minutes on the clock.
The win makes it a perfect start for Player Coach Michael Farn (pictured above with representatives from our sponsors Andrews after the game) and the team, with Oxford City Stars the visitors next Saturday in what should be an intriguing clash. Tickets are on sale now HERE.
