Streatham thrash title rivals in SW16

After a number of recent nervy home performance in recent weeks, Streatham maintained their 100% winning start to the season with a surprising yet welcome demolition job on 2nd placed Solent Devils.

Missing star players Michael Farn and Ryan Watt from the on-ice line up, the hosts finally handed Swedish forward David Millner his debut at the Streatham Arena.

Streatham had fallen behind in all of the last three home fixtures but were quick out the blocks this time as Scott Bailey broke through and scored early on to ease any nerves.

By the end of the first period it was 4-0 thanks to a well worked goal from Ben Ealey-Newman and a double from Vanya Antonov, one of which went bar down from the slot.

In the second period it was more of the same as Streatham pressured the visitor's net and added two more, thanks to a nice effort from Bailey for his second and a first of the night from Josh Ealey-Newman.

In the third period Solent's night went from bad to worse as Ralf Circenis was ejected for spitting, before two more goals from Antonov and a further effort from Josh Ealey-Newman delivered a 9-0 final result to the delight of the home support.

Nate Gregory got the shut out between the pipes for the home side.

Man of the match went to Vanya Antonov, while for Solent, Oscar Evans took the award.

Streatham now face a mouthwatering clash with recently strengthened rivals Invicta Dynamos this coming Saturday with a 5.30pm face off. Tickets are available online now.
