Our History

Streatham Ice Hockey Club is a British ice hockey club based in South London. Originally founded in 1932 as Streatham, the name Redskins was added in 1974. During the 1980s, we were one of the leading teams in the British Hockey League.

During the 2015/16 season, we formalised a decision that had been on the cards for some time by dropping the Redskins part of the name. During the close season, fans, players and management voted to change the name of the club to Streatham Ice Hockey Club, keeping it simple and staying true to our roots.

Sponsoring the club

We would like to send our thanks to Paul Martin for allowing us access to a collection of his photos. Streatham have played ice hockey on the high road since 1932, with a temporary move to Brixton on 2009 whilst the new rink was being built alongside a supermarket development. Our present and past players have travelled from far and wide to get onto the ice and into the team.
