Streatham Silence Thunder
Streatham secured another win on home ice at the weekend with a 13-0
win over the visiting MK Thunder.
It would take Streatham 2 minutes to get on the board as Ziggy Beesley
would score the first of 3 goals on the night.
Kaleb Sheahan in the Thunder net would hold the Streatham offence at
bay with a series of big saves over the following 3 minutes, before
Ethan Lane would further extend the Streatham lead to 2-0 at 5:34 on
the clock
Beesley would then net his second of the game and Streatham’s 3rd, at
836, before completing his hat trick at 11:18.
At, 17:26, Streatham would wrap up the scoring for the period with a
goal by JJ Pitchley. Putting Streatham ahead 5-0 going into the first
break.
Streatham would continue adding goals throughout the 2nd period.
Harvey Stead with the 6th goal of the game at 22:49
A minute later Steads fellow defenceman Brendan Baird, would score the
7th at 23:38.
Aiden Doughty would then net at 24 minutes to extend the RedHawks lead
further to 8-0.
Sheahan in the Thunder net would make more saves but despite being the
standout in net for the Thunder couldn’t stem the bleeding. Sam Waller
scoring from the blue line to make it 9-0 Streatham at 26:51
Danny Ingoldsby would net the first of his 3 goals at 27:16, putting
the Redhawks into double digits at 10-0
Sheahan would continue to make big saves for Thunder who had spent the
majority of the game under bombardment by Streatham’s offence at this
point.
Damon Porter would be the next Streatham player to get on the board
at 3226 with a long range shot from the hash marks.
Sheahan would endure more of the Streatham offence before at 39
minutes, Ingoldsby would make it 12-0 Streatham heading into the
break.
Thunder would come out with a bit more energy at the start of the 3rd
forcing a big save moment out of Brett Shepherd in the Streatham net.
But it would be Sheahan in the Thunder net who would steal the show
with a series of big saves to keep the Streatham offence to just 1
goal in the third.
Ingoldsby completing his hat trick at 51:32 to wrap up the scoring 13-0
Coach Paynter was pleased to see the team back to winning ways after
defeat to Invicta the previous weekend.
“We know what we were coming up against when we play MK Thunder, they struggle. But tonight, was all about making sure we stuck to our
systems, do the right things, and get back to winning ways.”
Streatham now need Slough to lose to Cardiff Fire this coming weekend
to stand a chance of winning a 5th league title. But will wrap up the
regular season and look to build some momentum heading into the NIHL 1
play offs. With games away in Cardiff on Saturday before wrapping up
the regular season with a visit from the Solent Devils on Sunday 23rd
March. Facing off at 18:45pm.
