Getting Ziggy with it

Streatham IHC are pleased to announce the return of speedy forward Ziggy Beesley for a second year in a RedHawks jersey.

The 22 year old Basingstoke born winger arrived from Raiders IHC in the summer of 2018 and went on to make 41 appearances last campaign.

Noted for his speed and quick hands, Beesley learnt his trade at the Hive where he played junior hockey for Bracknell before making his senior debut for the Bees in 2014. A year later he iced for England under 19s in the now annual game against Scotland.

“I am really pleased Ziggy is back with us next year” said Player Coach Adam Carr.

“He is a really popular character in the room, has a great attitude and always puts the team first which is something I like most in a player.

“He is always one of the hardest workers on the ice and chips in with goals along the way. I think Ziggy will have a great year for us this year and I know he is really excited to get going.”

Beesley becomes the 7th announced forward for the 2019/20 season joining Coach Carr, Ivan Antonov, Brandon Miles, Ben Paynter, Scott Bailey and Danny Ingoldsby up front.

"When Coach Carr got in contact after the season ended, I was delighted to join the RedHawks again” admitted Beesley.

“The motives behind my re-signing were firstly the amazing set of fans that welcomed me with open arms last season. I was really drawn to the sense of camaraderie and family orientated feel that surrounds club.

“Secondly, the exceptional group of players that are coming into the team this summer as well as the existing talent we have here. This year’s campaign will make for a great push for achieving silverware that the management deserve.

"Streatham is a good place to play due to the team dynamic, and the way it attracts a certain breed of players and coaches that are all there for each other.

“For me this was great for my confidence over the last season. Plus the amazing selection of cakes that are baked for players on Thursday evenings was a big factor."

You can own and loan Ziggy's home or away jersey for £100. Your name or message will be on the back of the jersey all season and you get to keep it at the end.
