No "Payn", no gain

Streatham IHC are pleased to announce that forward Ben Paynter will be lining up for the team in 2019/20. Image by Kev Slyfield.

The 24 year old joins us from Bracknell Bees where he appeared 32 times last year. Ben is known for his feisty style of play and previously iced with us in the 2017/18 season when he scored five goals and eight assists, racking up 120 penalty minutes.

“I’m really pleased to be signing Paynts back to Streatham” said Coach Adam Carr on his signing.

“He has a good hockey brain and can play in all situations. He has a knack of coming up with big goals at important times in a game. Not only that but he is another guy who will stick up for his team mates and will always put the team first.

“Paynts is someone who thrives on responsibility so I'm looking forward to working with him. He is excited to be coming back to Streatham and wants to win.”

Paynter played his junior hockey in Bracknell before making his senior debut as a teenager in 2011/12. He lifted the NIHL South Play-Offs trophy in 2015 with Wightlink Raiders and also had a spell at Oxford City Stars.

“It was a really easy decision to come back to Streatham, I really enjoyed my time playing for the club last time” said Paynter

“The support you receive home and away is second to none and I’m excited to hear those drums week in, week out.

“Carsy is putting together a great bunch of guys and the team will provide exciting, competitive hockey the fans will really enjoy. If we aren’t challenging for silverware this year we should be disappointed.”

You can own and loan Ben’s home or away jersey for £100. Your name or message will be on the back of the jersey all season and you get to keep it at the end. Demand is always high for these jerseys so please email streatham1972@yahoo.co.uk and you will be put in a draw.

You can view Paynter’s career stats here.

We will be announcing new signings and returnees across the summer as the coach builds his squad. The new season begins in September and we will have ticket news as soon as the fixtures are finalised later in the summer.
