Antonov arrives in SW16

Streatham IHC are delighted to announce the first new face to our squad for 2019/20 with highly rated forward Ivan Antonov confirmed as signing in SW16.

The former GB junior international joins us from Bracknell Bees where he iced last year, notching 15 goals and 33 assists for the Berkshire outfit.

Known for his speed and skill, Antonov represented GB in the World Championships at both u18 and u20 level, while making his senior debut for the Bees as a teenager in 2013. At 22 he is still a youngster but has already made over 240 appearances in senior hockey, bagging 273 points in the process.

“I’m delighted to have signed with Streatham” explained the 5’ 9” forward.

“I have only heard positive reports about the club and the fans. Carsy is assembling a great group of players, with some exceptional characters, which I am excited to be a part of.

“This will be my first true experience of the original NIHL, so should be an interesting challenge. The team is shaping up to be really strong, so next season should prove to be an enjoyable season and hopefully we can win some silverware.”

Antonov joins a number of returnees announced so far including fellow blue liners Michael Farn, Rupe Quiney and Adam Wood, plus netminder Damien King. Head Coach Adam Carr makes up the rest of the confirmed signings so far and is pleased to have been able to persuade Antonov to sign up in South London.

“Vanny is a top class player and a massive signing for the club” said Carr.

“He is going to bring us a lot of speed, skill and composure that I think we have lacked at times.

“I’ve played against him many times and I’ve never enjoyed trying to keep up with him, he is highly skilled, skates well and can create and score goals.

“He has a great attitude and I’m really looking forward to working with him. I think the Streatham fans are going to really enjoy watching him play.”

“We have agreed with the Bees that he can ice with them on a two way deal, so if we don’t have a game he will be helping Bracknell should they need him.”

You can own and loan Antonov’s home or away jersey for £100. Your name or message will be on the back of the jersey all season and you get to keep it at the end. Demand is always high for these jerseys so please email and you will be put in a draw.

We will be announcing new signings and returnees across the summer as the coach builds his squad. The new season begins in September and we will have ticket news as soon as the fixtures are finalised later in the summer.
