We deserved it

RedHawks blueliner Michael Farn believes that the four points earned last weekend had been due, after a series of better performances failed to reap the points they perhaps deserved.

The 30 year old defenseman played a pivotal part in the wins over Swindon and Milton Keynes, taking his personal points tally to 39 in the process.

On Saturday night Streatham denied Swindon the chance to win the league title in front of a 1300 strong crowd at the Link Centre. A 4-3 win on the night kept the title race open for another week as goals from James Warman, Alex Roberts, Adam Carr and Adam Wood sent the small band of travelling fans home happy.

“The first goal was always going to be huge”, admitted Farn, who iced for Swindon himself between 2007 and 2009.

“When we got that go ahead goal we never looked back. I believe Swindon will still win the league but no team ever wants to be down the opposite end of the ice while another team celebrates.”

The team followed up with a 5-2 win over Milton Keynes Thunder in Buckinghamshire 24 hours later, at a venue they struggled at last time out. A brace each from Alex Roberts and Tom Soar, plus a solo effort from Adam Wood secured a four point weekend.

“We’ve had three wins on the bounce now and that’s great at this time of year” explained Farn.

“I believe it’s been coming for a little while. We’ve been short for some time now, for one reason or another but the boys have been giving 100% every night and we’ve thoroughly deserved the points we’ve now picked up.”

Streatham are expected to bring Andreas Siagris back into the line-up as he returns from the World University games, however Ryan Webb and Jordan Gregory still require fitness tests before icing.
