Back to back wins

Streatham made it back to back home wins with an 8-1 win over Invicta Dynamos at the Streatham Arena. Head Coach Jeremy Cornish welcomed back defensive trio Michael Farn, Leigh Jamieson and Jordan Gregory to the line-up, but Josh Condren, Rupe Quiney and Nate Gregory were ruled out injured.

The RedHawks began the game in style scoring two goals in the opening minute thanks to a brace from centre man Ryan Webb. The Mo’s pulled a goal back through new signing Oskars Ancitis but conceded another goal on the ten minute mark as Adam Carr continued his scoring form for Streatham with a powerplay effort.

The first period saw no more scoring, but it took less than two minutes from the restart for the RedHawks to give themselves a three goal cushion. This time it was the returning Leigh Jamieson firing past Morris.

Streatham scored three more goals as the discipline from the visitors drifted away with Webb completing his hat trick and both Ziggy Beesley and Tom Soar also notching.

With the score at 7-1 in Streatham’s favour, Invicta goalie Conor Morris made matters worse for his team as he slashed Jacob Ranson in the balls and got an early shower for his troubles.

With no back-up goalie on the bench, the Mo’s were forced to dress defenseman Harrison Lillis as their netminder for the remainder of the game, and Jamieson quickly fired in a powerplay effort before the end of the period to make it 8-1.

With a period left to play, RedHawks Coach Jeremy Cornish took the sportsmanship route and there was no further scoring in the resulting twenty minutes, consisting of little action or motivation to rack up the score.

It was a stuttering end to a game that delivered both points to the RedHawks but denied the larger than usual crowd some extra celebrations, a mercy not often handed out to Streatham in past seasons by rival clubs.
