Warm up weekend

Streatham ended their double header Challenge match series against the Swindon Wildcats with a 6-1 defeat on home ice in South London.

The RedHawks opted to face the league title favourites for their pre-season warm ups, after previously lining up against clubs from the league below in recent years. The double defeat against the Wildcats may not have yielded a victory, however with the Wiltshire side already a weekend ahead in terms of warm up games played, the performances were promising for Jeremy Cornish’s new look side.

A narrow 4-3 loss in Swindon on Saturday night saw Adam Wood score his first goal since returning from injury and both Ben Russell and Michael Farn netting from the point.

On Sunday the Cats got off to a strong start in front of a decent crowd for a friendly game, as Floyd Taylor tipped a cross ice pass from Adam Harding past King and into the bottom corner of the net.

Scott Bailey equalised for the RedHawks five minutes into the second period with a well taken effort from a Roberts pass, but the Cats stepped up the pressure and were ruthless, scoring 5 unanswered goals before the end of the game. Taylor grabbed his second to add to efforts from Aaron Nell, Max Birbraer, Loris Taylor and Sam Godfrey.

The RedHawks iced with one import in both games with Andreas Siagris missing, whilst Tom Soar is also scheduled to be back in the line up come puck drop next weekend where the team host MK Thunder on Saturday and then travel to London Raiders on Sunday.

Tickets for the MK game are available online now.
