Message from Corny

With our recruitment for the 2018/19 campaign complete, Coach Jeremy Cornish looks across the roster and identifies the skill set amongst the group.

Now the team is set I really can’t wait to get the team together and get started. We've made a number of changes from a year ago and even though we have said good-bye to a number of players, the players we have brought in will be exciting to watch.

The league has once again stepped up recruitment wise and we hope these new signings will help us continue to progress and compete near the top of the table this year.

We have an excellent goaltending team in Damien and Nate. Nate proved last year he is capable of competing at this level and get us results. Damien is a top goalie at this level and we are very fortunate to have both of these players at our disposal.

Our defence is looking much bigger, more mobile and stronger from a year ago. Michael Farn will once again lead from back there. He’s a quality player that gives 100 per cent every time he’s on the ice. It’s great to see big Rupe back in a Streatham jersey and he will provide us with a massive presence on the blue line. Returning player, Jordan Gregory will once again be used to play tough minutes against some of the best players in the league. New addition Ben Russell will also give us a player that can play in all situations and is really looking forward to pulling on a Streatham shirt. Last but not least, James Warman. He has been with us for a number of years and is one of the most underrated d-men in the league.

Up front we have a unique blend of size, skill and speed. Leading from up front is our captain Adam Carr. He never takes a night off and is a reliable points producer. New arrival Leigh Jamieson has a tremendous amount of experience and will also help us offensively while understanding how to mentor our younger players. Returning Jacob Ranson is a fan favourite that is one of the most intelligent players on the team. Scott Bailey is a new arrival and he is looking to have a bounce back season and put some points on the board.

Our returning import Andreas really improved as the year wore on and now that he is accustomed to the British game he will be a massive contributor. Long time Streatham player Adam Wood is moving back up front this year and his heavy shot and physical presence should make opposing d-men think twice. Ryan Webb is the last remaining Wightlink player on the roster. He is a consistent performer and keeps himself in unbelievable condition. He pays attention to detail in all areas of the game and will play a large part in our success.

Josh Condren is a local lad that really knows how to get under the oppositions skin. He’s really looking forward to pulling on the RedHawks jersey and is another player that has a lot to prove. Ziggy Beasley is a player I’ve admired for a couple years now. He’s got excellent speed and skill and those attributes will be favourable for the style of game we want to play. Thomas Soar is a player that will help lead us offensively and has a great amount of experience as well. Finally, our second import spot will be filled by Alex Roberts. He is another forward with good size and can play up and down the line up. He’s got an excellent shot and can’t wait to get over and experience life, living in London.

I will also have Terry and Bill once again helping me on the bench. It’s great have two knowledgable guys to bounce ideas off during the season. They both have been instrumental in the recruitment process and I appreciate them giving them their time when needed.

Overall I’m happy with our progress this season and I can’t wait to get everyone on the ice together come September.
