RedHawks go Wild

Streatham IHC are delighted to announce the signing of Mason Wild who joins us from Solent Devils.

The former Oxford blue liner arrives after winning the Play-Offs in NIHL 2 last season and is a player Coach Jeremy Cornish is pleased to agree terms with.

“Mason is a player I’m very familiar with, I’ve played a number of times against Mason and he’s a player that is excited to test himself against some new competition” said Cornish.

“He has a good skill set and will complement the defence we already have signed this year. He lives local to Streatham and was on the radar of a couple other NIHL 1 teams, so I’m happy he has committed to us for the upcoming season.”

The 28 year old learnt his trade on the South Coast in Gosport before moving to Bracknell Juniors. He made his senior debut in 2013 at Oxford where he played for a couple of seasons before returning back to Solent where he was a solid presence on their blue line. Mason also guested for the Manchester Phoenix in their final season of existence in the EPL.

“After having a successful season with the Devil's, after the league split, I felt like it was a good opportunity to challenge myself and play at a higher level” said Wild.

“I had heard that Streatham were putting together a strong team this season and wanted to be a part of that.  During last season I also moved to South London, just round the corner from Streatham, so they were the obvious choice.”

“After the league split I followed the teams that stayed up, and Streatham proved that they can handle themselves at this higher standard and I think we have a chance to do even better this season.  Personally, I would like to establish myself as a solid defence man in this league and am looking forward to playing competitive games week in and week out.”
