Message from the Coach

Head Coach Jeremy Cornish gives his update on the summer so far and a taste of what is to come...

I thought it would be a good idea to let everyone know how things are going at this point of the off-season.

Recruitment has gone very well (I think!) and I’m looking forward to getting this group on the ice together for the first time in early September.

We have had a lot of turnover again this summer, but that’s part of the business this time of year. I know the fans have their favourite players and I respect that, but I hope they identify with the new guys and support them like they always do. I would like to wish all the players that aren’t returning the best of luck for the future.

This year’s group will share the same attitude and work rate last year‘s team did, but I’m hoping we have upgraded in the appropriate spots to make this year’s team stronger. This year I built the team from the goalie out and with Damien we have one of the best in the league. He will come ready to play every night and keep us in close games when needed.

Our D will have a mix of everything, skill, toughness and smarts. Upfront we are looking good and I’m hoping to add one more import later in the summer if possible.

I hope you guys enjoy the press releases as they come out and I would like to thank Graham and Dawn for their continued support throughout the signing period. It’s an exciting time for RedHawk hockey and I can’t wait until September.
