King arrives in the Capital

Streatham IHC are pleased to reveal the first new face in the 2018/19 squad as we can confirm that Damien King has joined the club from Invicta Dynamos.

King comes highly rated after a number of impressive campaigns in the NIHL, including last season where he finished with a 91% save average despite facing 1225 shots, the second highest number in the league.

“Damien is a goalie I have really enjoyed watching for the last number of years” said Head Coach Jeremy Cornish.

“He's capable of winning games on his own and is very excited to be joining the RedHawks. Every team needs strong goal tending and I'm really looking forward to seeing how Damien plays in front of a stronger defence this year.”

“He is very athletic, takes his hockey seriously and wants to win. He is another player we have signed this year that has experience of winning trophies and we're hoping he contributes to helping us achieve our goals this year.”

The 27 year old stopper hails from Peterborough where he made his senior debut before spells in Milton Keynes and Invicta, plus a summer stint in New Zealand where he iced for the Canterbury Red Devils.

“I’m really happy to join Streatham” said King on his signing.

“I’m the type of guy that needs to be challenged and I feel coming to a team like Streatham will really motivate me to take my game up a level.”

“The team Corny is putting together feels like it could beat any team on any given night and providing I can add some consistency to the team, and give us a chance to win each night we can press on up the table and compete with the big boys.”

“I’ve never enjoyed playing in Streatham as an away player which is often a good sign when you join a new team.”

The club can also confirm that Matt Colclough will not be icing with the team in the 2018/19 campaign and we wish him well for the future.
