Cornish Corner

Head Coach Jeremy Cornish gives his thoughts on the win over Bracknell last weekend and the upcoming challenges against Swindon Wildcats and London Raiders.

Last weekend saw us grab two massive points in Bracknell. After losing to London the week before, I knew the guys would be excited to get back on the ice and prove themselves.

We didn't have the best first period, but once we got rolling, Bracknell struggled to defend against us when we were playing 5 on 5. I must admit, to beat them 3 out of 4 times this season would have been unthinkable in the summer. I would have been happy with knocking off one of the former EPL teams once or twice throughout the whole season. We have proved we can play with anyone in the league and this team has also shown they are a hard working, resilient bunch.

This weekend is another big one, Swindon away will be challenging to say the least. We have had some success against them on our ice this year, but this will be our first trip to the Link Centre. They are a much better team on home ice, so I'm expecting to see a much better team then we did a few months back.

Then we face London at home on the Sunday, the guys will be looking for payback from last week when some calls didn't go our way and we should have had that game in the bag. We outplayed, out shot and out chanced them throughout the game and had two goals disallowed which at least one should have counted for sure. We were frustrated to say the least and this week we will look to make things right.

I know the standing don't look brilliant, but we have been playing some fantastic hockey at times this year. I'm excited to see if we can continue to climb the table and get ourselves ready for play-offs... My favorite time of year.

Thanks to everyone for their continued support,
