Leadership team announced

Streatham IHC are pleased to announce the team Captain and Alternates for the 2017/18 season.

With club legend Joe Johnston retiring, the captaincy of our historic team became vacant for the first time in five years this summer. Coach Jeremy Cornish has opted to give new signing Adam Carr the ‘C’ with Adam Wood and Ryan Watt taking the ‘A’s’.

“I'm excited about this year's leadership group. This year's captain will have big shoes to fill after the retirement of Joe” explained Cornish.

“Joe was the ultimate captain and always put the club first. I think this year's captains will help lead us into the new league format and all three players have a vast amount of experience.”

“Adam has been a captain of the Milton Keynes Lightning for a number of years and has helped them win a number of trophies. He is a class act and everyone I spoke to about him had only great things to say.”

“He understands the history of the club and knows how important this season is for us. I can't wait to see Adam skate out for his first game for Streatham with the 'C' on his jersey.”

“Adam Wood will continue to wear an 'A' for us this year and is very committed to our hockey club. Adam can play both forward and defence and is willing to stick up for his teammates when needed.”

“He is also vocal in the locker room and other players listen to what he has to say. When we had a change of personnel last season, Adam was one of the first guys to try and integrate all the new guys into the room and to me that shows someone who cares for his club.”

“Ryan Watt will also wear an 'A' this season. I have known Ryan for a number of years now and his experience speaks for itself. He has played in the Elite league and understands the commitment it takes to play at the highest level.”

“He is fantastic in the locker room and well liked by his teammates. When Ryan is on his game, you will find it hard to find a player with his mixture and toughness and skill. I will be looking for Ryan to help lead our young team this season on and off the ice.”

The RedHawks take to the ice for their pre-season Challenge game on Sunday 3rd September at 5.30pm. You can buy tickets online by clicking here.
