Gregory & Shepherd complete goalie team

Streatham IHC are pleased to finalise their netminding team for the 2017/18 season.

Following the return of Matt Colclough to the squad we can reveal that he will be partnered by new signing Nate Gregory who joins us from Bracknell Hornets. Also in the squad on a two way contract is Brett Shepherd who made his first senior appearance last season for the team against Invicta Dynamos.

Gregory joins his brother Jordan in the squad and is a product of the Bracknell junior development system. The 20 year old stopper made his senior debut for the Hornets in 2013 before heading to Canada to play.

“I'm really happy Nate was available when I gave him a ring, he's a young goalie who is looking forward to joining our club” explained Jeremy Cornish on signing the stopper.

“I have worked with him before and I know he is looking forward to challenging Matty for ice time this season. He is in good shape and when given the opportunity, can play against any team in our league.”

Shepherd has long been a standout goalie in our junior teams and represented the South East Conference over the years as he progressed. The 16 year old will continue to play with our u18s and will also ice with one of the teams in NIHL2 (as yet unannounced). Coach Cornish is happy to keep Brett within the fold and he will be called up when required, plus will train with the team periodically.

“Brett will be a part of our team this year but his main priority will be with his Junior team” said the Canadian.

“He will also be icing in NIHL2 this year and with the new league set up; this is what will be best for his development. Brett is still very young and needs to be on the ice as much as possible and I'm hoping he will develop into Streatham's next home grown starting goalie of the future.”

“The season is just around the corner now and I can't wait to get everyone down to the rink.”

The own and loan jerseys for both goalies are now available for £100. For that price you get your name on the back of either the home or away jersey and at the end of the year you get to keep it. Contact
