Challenging the Lions

The RedHawks will face East London rivals Lee Valley Lions in a home challenge game on Sunday 3rd September at 5.30pm.

The Lions and their distinct green jerseys will travel South of the river to take on the new look Streatham team in a fixture that has proved entertaining over the years.

A number of iconic Streatham players have iced in Lee Valley colours in the past, particularly in the 1980’s and 90’s with Steve James, Tony Goldstone, Adam Goldstone and Fred Perlini all icing for both teams. In recent seasons Streatham have signed former Lions Michael Ranby, Gennadi Yufit and Stefan Nubert. The current Lions team is coached by George Alley and includes our former player Chris ‘Dr’ Fox in the line-up.

The game offers Streatham fans the first chance to see Jeremy Cornish’s new look squad in action and get back down to the rink ahead of the new season. Our new range of merchandise will be available at the club shop and there will also be the opportunity to meet some of the players in the Earl Ferrers after the game and socialise with your fellow hockey fans.

Tickets available online now, and also on the gate priced at £10 for adults and £6 for concessions.

The regular season will start the following weekend and we will publish the full set of fixtures once we have them. Season tickets are available priced at:

Adult - £180
Concessions - £108 (Senior, under 16 etc)
Family -  £450 (two adults and 2 children under 16)

Season tickets do not include cup knockout stages of cup or play-off games (subject to qualification). You can order these now by emailing Don Young at: donebyoung@googlemail.com or calling 07737601177.

We had hoped to arrange a tribute game before the season started for our retired captain Joe Johnston and fellow retiree Liam Rasmussen, however at Joe’s request we will arranging something for later on in the campaign. We will update supporters on this as soon as we know the details.
