Fan favourite returns

Streatham IHC are pleased to announce the return of fan favourite Joe Allen for the 2017/18 season.

The 27 year old local boy joins us for his sixth season in a Streatham jersey after originally heading back to South London in 2012.

Joe is well known for his electric speed and work rate and has been a key part of the penalty kill for most of his time in SW16. He has made 144 appearances in a Streatham jersey and is 20th in our all-time appearance makers. In that time he has scored 39 goals and notched 82 assists whilst taking 121 minutes in penalties.

‘I am looking forward to the season starting after the summer break’ said Allen, who spent most of his junior career in Guildford at a time when the old Streatham rink was in a poor state.

‘The challenge is there for us all to take on and I can’t wait to get back on the ice and see how we get on.’

Joe will wear his trademark number 11 jersey again this term and enjoyed a solid season last year on and off the ice. He was part of the team delegation at Canada House launching our new jerseys and also appeared on Good Morning Britain carrying weather girl Laura Tobin around Canary Wharf Ice Rink.Streatham Head Coach Jeremy Cornish admits he is delighted to have him back.

‘Joe is a Streatham player through and through and a player that I'm very excited to have back.’

‘He's awesome in the face-off circle and works extremely hard in all three zones. I know Joe is looking forward to the new challenges with the league set up, so he's exactly the type of player we wanted back. We have a lot of new guys coming in this year and having Joe on board will be a big help when welcoming new guys into the room.’
