Return of the Ranson

Streatham IHC are pleased to announce the return of speedy forward Jacob Ranson for the 2017/18 season.

The 21 year old joined us towards the end of last season and his endless workrate and energy proved invaluable on the fore-check and shorthanded unit. Widely acknowledged as one of the quickest players in the NIHL, Ranson also surprised everyone with the eye of the tiger by dropping the gloves last season against London Raiders.

Speaking from his holiday villa in Rhodes, Greece, Ranson explained why he opted to stay in SW16.

‘I'm delighted to be back at Streatham, as I wasn't enjoying playing last season until I joined the club towards the end of last season.'

‘I'm excited and can't wait to take on the challenge of playing against the old EPL teams and players. I believe we're building a shrewd team with a lot of hard workers and can't wait to get started. I'm keen to up my game and have a big season.’

Ranson had an intriguing junior career after leaving his home town of Romford for spells in the States and Sweden before making his senior debut in 2013 for London Raiders. He has since played for MK Thunder, Basingstoke Bison and Invicta Dynamos and has always shown an appetite to improve his game.

‘Jacob is a player I brought in half-way through last season and became an immediate fan-favourite’ said Head Coach Jeremy Cornish.

‘His work ethic is unbelievable and a player that never stops moving his feet. Jacob is an intelligent player that can adapt and follow instructions flawlessly.'

‘Jacob is working on his strength this summer and I'm hoping with some added weight he will be able to contribute more offensively this season while continuing to finish his checks and be a pain for other teams to play against.’

Ranson will wear number 43 and his own and loan jerseys are available now for £100. Simply email streatham1972@yahoo.co.uk to try and secure his home or away jersey. He will wear it all year and you get to keep it at the end of the season (washed of course).
