Carr signs up in SW16

Streatham IHC are delighted to announce the signing of forward Adam Carr for the 2017/18 season.

The 32 year old joins us in South London after an incredible 14 seasons with Milton Keynes Lightning where he captained the team for many years, winning multiple league and Play-Off titles during that time.

Last season Carr scored the winning penalty shot to clinch the EPL Cup for MK and is the club’s all-time appearance maker with over 600 games to his name, earning him legendary status in Buckinghamshire.

‘I’m really excited about signing for Streatham, it’s a great club with a big history that has had some great players over the years so it will be a real honour for me to wear the jersey’ said Carr.

‘I have followed Streatham closely since my brother signed for them a few years ago and I have been to a couple of games in the new rink so I am looking forward to playing in front of that crowd.’

‘After being with MK for so long and with the changes going on there, I felt I needed a bit of a fresh start and after speaking to Cornish I knew it was the place I wanted to be.’

‘We have a pretty young team so hopefully I can bring us a bit of experience that can help us win some trophies. Cornish is ambitious and he wants to win and I will be working hard to help us do that.’

Carr made his senior debut for the Sunderland Chiefs at the age of 16 before earning a call up to Newcastle Vipers in the British National League. A successful spell on the Isle of Wight earned him a move to MK, where he was a loyal servant during their time in the EPL. He also represented GB at u18 and also u20 level where he won a gold medal in 2003.

‘Adam is a winner and a proven leader at EPL level’ said Head Coach Jeremy Cornish.

‘He is an all-round, skilled hockey player that will help us out in all situations. I'm looking forward to coaching Adam and he is looking forward to the new opportunity in Streatham after playing in Milton Keynes for a number of years.’

‘Adam has won numerous trophies at the EPL level and I'm hoping that knowledge and experience will rub off on our younger players. He is a marquee signing for our club and a player that will be a top level talent in our league.’

Carr will wear number 18 and his own and loan jerseys are available now for £100. Simply email to try and secure his home or away jersey. He will wear it all year and you get to keep it at the end of the season (washed of course).
