Farn heads to the capital

Streatham IHC are delighted to welcome highly rated defenseman Michael Farn to the capital as he joins us ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The 28 year old former GB junior international arrives from Milton Keynes Lightning where he played for eight seasons with distinction and was a big fan favourite.

Agile, composed on the puck and a keen competitor, Farn learnt his trade in the North East of England where he progressed through the Billingham junior system before icing for the senior team the Bombers.

A spell in Florida saw him return in good shape for a crack at the EPL, where he impressed for Swindon Wildcats before joining the Lightning. He also won a gold medal with GB under 18s in 2006.

‘I can’t wait to get on the ice with the team and pull on the Streatham jersey’ said Durham born Farn.

‘It has been a summer of change to say the least but I am really excited to get going. When I first spoke to Corny I knew he wanted to put together a competitive team and that played a big part in my decision.’

Farn enjoyed a great 2016/17 season and won both the EPL Cup and Play-Offs with MK Lightning. He will be a quality addition to our blue line and will wear the number 55 jersey.

‘When I heard that Milton Keynes were moving up to the Elite League I jumped at the opportunity to give Michael a call’ explained Head Coach Jeremy Cornish.

‘He has won numerous trophies in the EPL and a player that has had a lot of teams ringing him. He was a top British D-man in the EPL and I'm pleased he has decided to join us in Streatham.’

‘We will be looking for Michael to provide offense from the back end while still taking care of his defensive responsibilities in his own end. I will also have big expectations for him to lead from the back and provide leadership to a young defensive group.’

Farn’s own and loan jerseys are available now for £100. Simply email to try and secure his home or away jersey. He will wear it all year and you get to keep it at the end of the season (washed of course).
