Tarczycki, Fisher, Giles and Britton depart with thanks

Streatham IHC would like to say thank you to four players who will not be icing with us in 2017/18.

Defensive trio Casimir Madren-Britton, Jack Tarczycki and Ryan Giles will not be returning with the squad in September, nor will forward Steven Fisher.

Casimir Madren-Britton has iced for ten seasons with the team despite still being only 25. He has been a regular fixture on the blue line in that time, noted for his quick stickhandling and long reach. An unsung hero at times, Caz played 250 games for Streatham and is our 7th all-time appearance maker.

A commanding figure on and off the ice with his 6' 5" frame, Britton was also able to drop the gloves when required including his infamous scrap with Bristol's Mike Hargreaves in our time at Brixton.

Caz played as a junior with both Streatham and Guildford, was a popular character in the locker room and we will undoubtedly see him on the ice again at some point in the future.

Jack Tarczycki has had three spells at the club making 166 appearances in that time. The Sutton born blueliner returned to the club from Invicta Dynamos in 2013 and became a fan favourite due to his willingness to throw his body on the line for the cause and drop the gloves when needed. Jack also played in the EPL for Bracknell before returning to this level.

Noted for his undoubted bravery, hard hitting style of play and his timely knack of scoring, Jack moved into our top ten all-time penalty minutes bad boy chart last season, with a total of 380 minutes, making him 9th overall.

At 27, Jack has a lot of hockey left in him and we wish him all the best in his new challenge.

In contrast, Ryan Giles has only been with us for two seasons but has been a fully committed member of the team on and off the ice. Ryan joined us from Chelmsford in 2015 and is another player who put his body on the line every game, picking up a number of cuts and bruises for his troubles.

A stay at home blueliner who sticks up for his team mates, Ryan and his fiance Charlotte have decided that living in London is no longer to their tastes and have re-located to the bosom of Kent from which they both hail. We wish them all the best in their escape to the country.

Steven Fisher was a marquee signing for the club back in 2013 when he signed from Cardiff and lit the lamp up in his first three seasons with an incredible 82 goals in 98 games.

A proven scorer throughout his years at this level, Fisher is noted for his finishing and composure under pressure. He learnt his trade in South Wales but has also iced with Bristol and Swindon over the years plus a brief cameo at Basingstoke. He also dropped the gloves when required and has great hands.

The 30 year old also made it in to our top ten all time scorers list with 88 goals to his name, plus our all-time penalty minute list with 382 mins in 125 games. Fisher is a student of the game and has bags of experience and a wicked sense of humour that will be an asset to his new team.

All four players have made a big impact during their spells with the club and we would like to place on record our thanks for their services, and may see them again in future years as often tends to happen in British hockey. They will go down as real fan favourites for sure.

We will be announcing more team news shortly as we prepare for the 2017/18 season in the recently expanded NIHL South.
