Drabek returns to the capital

Streatham are pleased to announce the signing of powerful defenseman Vaclav Drabek.

The veteran Czech blue liner can also play up front and will train with his team mates tonight. Subject to paperwork going through he will ice this weekend against Invicta Dynamos and Milton Keynes Thunder.

The Trinec born player made his first senior appearance for his home town team before embarking on a long and successful hockey career in the Czech Republic.

Drabek first appeared in the UK when London Raiders signed him in 2014/15 and he was a big presence for the team playing on defence and as a forward when required.

Last season he played in Czech again before appearing in Wightlink Raiders colours for a few games at the start of this season.

An impressive athlete, Drabek is known for his strength and ability to transition his team from defence to attack quickly.

The move to add Drabek to the roster has been prompted by the imminent departure of Slovak forward Michal Oravec who is shortly heading off for a new career opportunity in the United States of America.

Michal has been a popular figure around the club in his time here and we would like to thank him for his efforts, and wish him luck over the pond.

The addition of Drabek on the blue line also boosts a defence weakened by an injury to star defender Nick Compton. We wish Nick all the best in recovery from his injury and hope to see him back on the ice soon.

Vaclav’s jerseys are available for own and loan at £100 for either home or away. You get your name on the jerseys then keep it at the end of the season.
