Bracknell jinx broken with win

Streatham picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 win in Bracknell breaking their Hive curse that saw them fail to win at the venue last season in both games.

Missing Adam Wood, Conor Sheehan and Daniel Clayton, Streatham were backed by a noisy band of travelling fans but could not break the deadlock until 5 minutes from the first period buzzer as Callum Best slotted past Danny Milton.

Despite controlling much of the game, Streatham were hit on the counter as Tom Fisher notched a powerplay effort after Liam Rasmussen was given a slashing minor.

The rest of the period was end to end with both teams trying to break the deadlock.

Both sides went in at the end of the second period level and came out all guns blazing in the third.

Both Euan King in the Streatham net and his opposite number Milton were stealing the show with some great saves, but it was Milton who was finally beaten thanks to a top shelf slapshot by David Savage from the point on the powerplay.

The visitors held on despite a little penalty trouble and the ejection of Savage after he disputed what looked like an excellent diving interception, but was called as tripping by the stripes.

Man of the match went to both goalies for a solid display.
