The Wall erected again

Streatham are delighted to announce the return of popular stopper Will ‘The Wall’ Sanderson to the team for the 2016/17 season.

The 28 year old Londoner has signed up for his 8th campaign with the club and is a popular figure with fans and team mates alike.

Since facing more rubber than was healthy in his opening season in 2009, Will has been an ever present in the line up as the team has improved year on year.

‘Will came into his own towards the back end of last season with some great performances’ said Head Coach Nicky Chinn.

‘He is a local lad who the players and fans connect with and you can see that when they chant his name during games from the stands.’

‘Alongside Euan he gives us a quality netminding team to rival any in this league.’

Sanderson played junior at Streatham and Slough and made his senior debut for the Berkshire side in 2003.

Since moving to Streatham he has played in the old rink, Brixton and the new rink and played his part in the famous ‘Great Escape’ season where Streatham avoided relegation on the last day of the season.

Will also helps coach the young goalies in the junior club and has Finnish family roots.

‘I'm happy to be back for another season with Streatham. I guess I say the same thing every season but it's exciting to return to a team that keeps on improving year on year’ he said upon signing.

‘Last season was a bit disappointing how it all ended so I am hoping we fulfil our potential this season and compete across all competitions for trophies.’

Will will continue to wear the number 31 jersey and you can sponsor his home or away jersey for only £100.

You get to keep it at the end of the season, however as they are so popular we are going to put all interested names into a hat and draw out the winner over the next 48 hours.
