We got Wood

Streatham are delighted to announce the return of exciting forward Adam Wood to the line up for 2016/17.

The 25 year old returns for his third season in South London after his move from Cardiff in 2014.

Woody had another good year for the team last season scoring 15 goals and 12 assists in 28 league games. This was despite a couple of niggling injuries that caused him to miss a few games and also play through the pain barrier.

'Woody played a key role last season and brings both size and a fantastic work ethic too' said Head Coach Nick Chinn.

'He brings scoring, physicality and also a great attitude to the team and we are pleased he is coming back'

Wood learnt his trade in the renowned Cardiff junior development system despite being born in Somerset. His first senior hockey experience came in 2009 with Cardiff where he showed his wild side with a eye watering 173 penalty minutes in only 16 games.

Still happy to drop the gloves when needed, Wood has added more to his game as he has grown up and is a popular figure amongst Streatham fans and team mates alike.

'I was thrilled to get asked to return to Streatham for a third season' admitted Wood.

'I can't believe how quickly the last two have gone. As I said last year, although it sounds cliche, I feel like I have been with this club forever. I can't see myself playing hockey anywhere else and I don't want to either.'

'The rich history of Streatham is something that keeps me constantly amazed. I know all clubs have history but it's how Streatham as a club seem to keep connected to theirs. Still in contact with players and fans from 50 years ago - that's incredible and shows how much this organisation means to everyone.'

'There is a lot of change going on right now and things seem to be moving in the right direction. I'm glad that I can continue to be a part of it with this family.'

Adam will continue to wear the number 22 jersey and you can sponsor his home or away jersey for only £100.

You get to keep it at the end of the season, however as they are so popular we are going to put all interested names into a hat and draw out the winner over the next 48 hours.
