Changes at the top

Streatham are delighted to announce their coaching line-up for the 2016/17 season.

Former GB international Nick Chinn will step up to the role of Head Coach after being Player Assistant Coach last season. Nick brings many years of experience and has done it all in the British game at the highest level.

His signing was a real coup last year and he will be lacing them up again to help the team on the ice too.

‘I'm really looking forward to taking over as Head Coach of the team’ said the Welshman

‘Last season was a great opportunity to take a look at the league and the team and see where we are in the grand scheme of things. I'm very confident that the team we have, barring injuries and a few additions, we will be able to challenge for a trophy next season.’

‘We have the best rink in the league and it's obvious that we have the best fans to fill it. Hopefully with Warren stepping upstairs and now able to spend more time on the business side, we will be able to promote the team even more and with success on the ice take Streatham to the level it deserves.’

Moving up to the role of GM is Warren Rost, who likewise brings a wealth of experience after decades in the game. A former Streatham junior and senior player himself, Warren has played a key role coaching the club through their transition into the new rink and now challenging for trophies.

‘We have been planning these changes for a few years to coincide with replacing the team name so I think we were very lucky to secure Nick Chinn's services as Head Coach.’ said Rost, who was previously heavily involved at Slough Jets in their Premier League days.

‘He's had a season where he has had a chance to analyse where we were and how he could improve things. We have laid some great foundations over the last few seasons and I'm looking forward to seeing how Chinny moves things forward.’

‘We have also been steadily building things off the ice and with a busy summer ahead these changes allow me to focus on the business side, making sure we keep making steady progress. These have been, and still are, exciting times at Streatham.’

On the team bench will be the familiar face of Terry England, who will be assisting Chinn on game days and in practice as he has done since 2009. Terry has been a permanent fixture on the Streatham bench since stepping up alongside former coach Barry Spours.

‘I am looking forward to the coming season’ admitted England, whose son Rob was a former player at the club.

‘It's been great working along side Warren the past few seasons and I have learned a lot from his time here. We had made good strides and have progressed into a quality set up.’

‘With Nick Chinn coming on board last season and getting a feel of what we are all about, sets him in good stead to take over this season as coach. I am more than pleased to be running the bench with support from Nick and Joe Johnston and I look forward to exciting times ahead and some long awaited silverware.’

The new set up is one team owner Graham D’Anger hopes will reap dividends for a club he has supported along with wife Dawn for decades:

‘First of all I would like to thank Warren for where he has got the team as Head Coach over the last few years and with the transition back to Streatham.’

‘Plus I look forward to working with him in his new role. I also think that this as going to be an exciting times to have Nick Chinn as head coach along with the name change and hope that we will lift some silverware in the coming season.’
