Mystery signing revealed

Streatham Redskins are pleased to reveal the identity of the player wearing the number 4 jersey in last weekend’s games.

Unfortunately we were unable to disclose details of the arrival of 24 year old Czech forward Kamil Kinkor prior to the opening fixture as we awaited confirmation of his late registration.

The Czech introduced himself in the best way possible with 4 assists over the weekend, slotting in on the second line alongside Daniel Clayton and Joe Allen.

Kinkor played junior hockey with former Streatham import Jakub Klima, who is taking some time away from the game this season.

The Czech was top scorer for Beostar Belgrade in the Serbian league last year, and almost helped them reach the group stages of the Continental Cup, scoring 7 goals in the preliminary rounds. The Serbians finished just behind CSKA Sofia from Bulgaria, but Kinkor enjoyed a good league campaign notching 21 goals and 11 assists in only 12 games.

He also took on the role as Assistant Coach for the Serbian under 18 team.

“Losing the services of Robbie Brown so close to the start of the season was potentially going to be difficult, but sometimes these things just work themselves out.” said Streatham Coach Warren Rost.

“Kamil had been in touch previously but the roster was full so nothing came of it but once Robbie let us know we got in touch and he came down to practise.  Almost immediately I could see he understood what we were trying to do and most importantly he seemed to click with the boys straight away.”

“When he was doing the drills no matter who he was with during that rotation they would smiling and enjoying playing the game together. That's a big thing for us, we want our players to play with a smile on their face and enjoy what they do, otherwise what we try to achieve simply doesn't work.”

“He's out of shape and very, ring rusty but once we dig beneath this we have a player who has managed 13 points in 3 games in the Continental Cup.  We've been lucky to have special imports sign for us over the last few seasons.  In terms of their ability and character, I think that lucks holding out for one more season at least.”
