Perfect Ten for Liam

Streatham Redskins are delighted to welcome back Danish dynamo Liam Rasmussen for his tenth consecutive season.

The 27 year old winger has become a permanent fixture in the Streatham team since first appearing in the 2006 season.

A Streatham junior throughout, Rasmussen and his brother Chris are local lads (despite their Danish heritage) who have played a big part of Streatham hockey in recent years.

Liam is known for his speed and tenacity and was crowned fastest player on the team back in 2011 during a pre-season camp. This has lead to him becoming somewhat prominent on the breakaway and he has come up big in a number of games during the last decade.

Now sixth in the all-time appearances for Streatham, Liam is keen to get started on another season of hockey.

“The club has changed massively over the years as has the league” he explained.

“Streatham has been home for my whole career and I have seen the transition from the old rink, through Brixton and then now to the new rink”

“I am pleased to be back and am looking forward to what will hopefully be a successful year”

Liam played last season on the third line alongside Evander Grinnell and Adam Wood amongst others.

“Ten seasons of senior hockey at Streatham is a pretty big milestone for someone who is only 27” said Coach Warren Rost.

“The fact Liam came through the junior ranks and is now helping with the coaching is what this club is all about”

“Liam snipes a few massive goals for us every season to earn his keep but over the last few campaigns he's really upped his defensive contribution”

“To be fair everyone else has too and it's this commitment to the cause and doing the jobs that need doing that have allowed us to break our ducks in places like Chelmsford and the Isle of Wight.  Liam is a key part of our squad and it's good to have him back”
