Evander signs up again

Streatham can today announce the return of Londoner Evander Grinnell Parke to the team for the 2015/16 season.

The 25 year old originally joined us in 2012 after a season away from the game and hasn’t looked back since.

The 6’3” forward has been a key figure on the penalty kill for the last two years since Warren Rost took over the coaching reigns and his relentless fore-checking puts opposition defensemen on the back foot every shift. He first caught the imagination of the Streatham fans in 2013 as part of the 'Gold line' alongside Jamie McIlroy and Liam Rasmussen, and last year carried on in a similar vein with a number of new linemates over the campaign, including time on the powerplay unit.

“Evander is one of our unsung heroes who does the all the less glamorous jobs on the ice” said Coach Warren Rost on the return of the former Romford junior.

“He’s sharp tactically and is always in the right place.  He is another of our players who has passion and intensity who gives all the team a lift with his determination”

“He’s one of our go to penalty killers and this season there’s a chance he’s going to be busier than ever”

Evander started his senior career with 4 brief appearances for Slough Jets in the EPL, before heading back to Romford and signing up with the Romford Spitfires, whilst also appearing for the Raiders.

Three more seasons at Rom Valley Way followed before a brief stint in Slough and a break from the game.

Before joining Streatham Evander had not iced more than 20 times in a regular season, but since moving to South London he has played plus 30 games every season, showing a commitment to the cause and reaching the 100 games for Streatham landmark last season.
