The Wood man is back

Another of the iconic ‘Towers’ of Streatham has returned to the club, as Adam Wood returns for 2015/16.

Wood proved a big hit with Streatham fans thanks to his all-action style of play that saw him start on the blue line and then gradually move up front last season.

A real power forward, Wood has speed, toughness and can score goals. Standing at 6’ 3” the 25 year old first caught the eye in the 2013/14 season with Cardiff NIHL Devils with an impressive 12 goals in 13 appearances.

An energetic presence who causes big issues for defenders with his fore-checking, Wood joined Streatham in the summer of 2014 and played on every line over the campaign in both defence and as a forward.

“Joining Streatham was the best move I could have made last year and I'm so happy to be back this year” said Wood, who scored 15 goals and 11 assists in 34 appearances.

“I can't see myself playing anywhere else and it is an amazing organisation with the best team mates, management and fans. Streatham feels like home already.”

Wood has settled into his new life in London but spent his junior days in Cardiff at the well renowned Devils junior system. He scored a number of key goals in Streatham last year and is no stranger to dropping the gloves if required.

He also appeared regularly in the matchday programme as one third of the ‘3 Towers’ story, and was a real hit in the room with the team.

“We lucked out last season when Adam moved to London and the fact he is staying in town for the foreseeable future is a boost to the squad” said coach Warren Rost.

“He’s an all-round player with skill, speed and size and we even talked him into playing defence when the need arose.”

“He is also going to benefit from be here from the start of the season, claiming a regular spot on one of the lines from the beginning, so I’m sure we will see  even more from Adam in this campaign”

Adam Wood will be sporting the famous red and white Streatham jersey and also our new look away jersey (design yet to be revealed), and you can own and loan them for the season. Simply email to secure either or both.
